Less than a month out, and final preparations are beginning. I've started preparing all my dehydrated food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I made my final purchases of the gear I needed. A new pair of shoes, a Garmin InReach satellite messenger, and a bear bag. I've been preparing myself mentally and physically for the stresses of the trail. While work is busy, I've still found time to help better myself for the trail. I tested out my my new tarp and bivy combination, and I found that it just wasn't for me. I'll be testing out the Gossamer Gear The One tent soon, and determining if that's the tent I want to bring with- otherwise, I'll default back to my X-Mid 1p.
I've done quite a bit of research into how to optimize my nutrition for the trail. I plan on dehydrating/preparing the main components of my meals. I have 2 breakfast shakes planned, 4 lunches, and 4 dinners. All the food can be prepared without adding any heat, thus eliminating my need to carry a stove and fuel.
